Overseed over weeds!

I have a yard that was horrible. It was a foreclosure property with an unmaintained yard for 2 years! 98% weeds everywhere.. i used Ortho Weed B Gone Max w/ Crabgrass Killer. It killed all weeds now I have 2% grass / 98% dead weed. I dont want to till the yard. My plan is to do a core aeration, seed, add starter fertilizer, water then cross my fingers and see what happens……………. then reseed again in the fall….
I want to use a fesue seed… do you know of a good seed to use? Scott? Pennington? LESCO? if so what have you been successful with?
Im leaning toward Scotts Southern Gold (lowes) or maybe that Scotts Water Saver brand w/ the seed coated with that water absorbant material… I also hear good things about LESCO Transition Blend..
I plan on seeding on either April 18 or 25th? [the crabgrass killer in the Ortho said i have to wait 4 weeks to seed] – do you think that date is too late to seed or should I wait to the fall
let me know your thoughts……..

Avoid using Pennington. I have had little success and wasted a lot of time and water using thier seed.
I almost forgot Do Not over water. Floratan /Seville all strains of St. Augustine are suseptible to fungus from over…
I am from the north and it has taken me five yrs to learn and undertand seville lawns. No 1…
