I’m hoping someone can give me some advice on my zoysia sod, which was put down 3 weeks ago today. The company that laid the sod suggested watering twice daily for 21 days, which I have done. Some has taken root, and some has not. There is some green grass, but there is also a lot of straw like patches. My question is this….Would this be a good time to apply Scott’s Starter? I have read that it should have ideally been applied prior to laying the sod, but I know that this was not done. I’m a complete novice to sod and lawn care so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

alfalfa pellets are the best since you want it to grow roots.

I second the alfalfa pellets. I’m no turf pro but my zoysia responded to alfalfa pellets way more than it did fertilizer.
