I am in Central Florida and had Empire put down in my front yard last September. It looks great compared to the other lawns on the street. Research Empire Zoysia.

Is there any reason you didn’t use Empress Zoysia instead of the Empire Zoysia? According to the “manufacturer” the Empire has a broader leaf. How does it’s broader leaf compare to St. Augustine?
Also, where did you get the Empire Zoysia from? Sod or plugs?
Thanks!

I used palisades zoysia. It is broader leafed. I think they should call some Zoysia’s by some other name because they are so different from each other. The fine bladed ones look completely different.
As compared to St. Augustine, the blades are about half the width and more dense. It looks nice. Palisades also has vertical growth compared to some varieties like “cavalier” which are fine bladed and look like a mat of twists.
