I’m going to be laying new sod on Saturday. I’ve read that I should put down some starter fertilizer but I’ve seen many places that say put it down before and some places that say put it on after I lay the sod. Which one is it?

The main component of startrer fertilizer is Phosphorus- which is best when its placed where the roots are. (below the sod). Its actually best to have good Phosphorus levels throughout the soil profile (6 to 8 inches). Phosphorus doesn’t leach well,(isan’t carried down by water), so get it “down below” as much as possible.
