New Sod and Grub
COTE – posted 08 May 2006 16:23
I am in the process of laying new sod, but while removing the old grass I found out that there were grubs. Should I treat the soil before laying the sod or can I lay the sod and then treat the grass?
Thank You.

Most of the grubs are in the top two inches, so most would be removed with the old sod. Those remaining can be killed with somthing like- Ortho MAX insecticide. It comes in dry form….it looks like a bag of fertilizer. Put it down before you sod, and it can be used in combination with whatever fertilzer your using to start the sod. (such as Scotts starter fertilizer).
