We have gotten to work on the weeds and they are dying ou except for the crab grass, now 60 percent of the yard is producing green but the other 40 is pretty dead and not. I need to know what to do im went out today to rake all the dead grass off the good stuff and raking some of the dead stuff and some of the runners wouldnt rake away and when i pulled them out of the ground the roots were pretty long and look alive…Please tell me what to do to get it all back. Here is my suggestion:
– Rake away all the dead grass- Put down a pre-emergent- Apply 16/4/8 or similar fertilizer — I suggest Lesco — you don’t want a real high first number — NO to 24/2/4 or similar- Water 2 x week about 3/4 inch each time (you can skip if it rains)
– Crabgrass — put the pre-emergent down!!! — mix roundup in a spray bottle and spot spray the crabgrass — alternatively spray the crabgrass with water then sprinkle baking soda on it (arm and hammer works). This may kill it.
– Spay the weeds with atrazine — if you have sedge use Image (Imazaquin) — Imazaquin is not Image brand Atrazine
I almost forgot Do Not over water. Floratan /Seville all strains of St. Augustine are suseptible to fungus from over…
I am from the north and it has taken me five yrs to learn and undertand seville lawns. No 1…
