lumpy lawn

Just moved into a new place, the lawn is nice and green. but seams to be really lumpy. it is quite a chore to Mow, or even walk around on it much.
How can i go about getting things level’d out
thanks

Sounds like the previous owners or builder laid the turf in a checkerboard pattern, which is not good for many reasons.
The only thing I can think of is to keep soil on hand and maybe each week spread some over the low spots. It may take a while before it’s level but it’s better than smothering the turf with too much soil at once.

Try shoveling 1/4 – 1/2″ of sand into the low spots then water it in with a hose. Don’t add to much sand to fast.
This spring have your entire lawn sanded. It may take more than one sanding event but even one will help.
Good luck!
