killing zoysia

What is the best way to eradicate zoysia?I cut up and gave away the turf but some pesky spots keep coming back. It’s supposed to grow slow but it chokes my fescues and I hate the brown from fall to late spring. I live in western North Carolina.

Try using Roundup. It will kill the roots as well as the above ground portion of the grass. It will also kill the desirable grass if it is too close but that may be a risk you have to take to completely eradicate the zoysia. In fact the best thing would have been to wait and spray the entire yard before planting or sodding the desirable grass.
