Killing Bermuda to plant emerald zoysia

Anyone have any experience with killing bermuda before laying emerald zoysia sod? Specifically, how much emphasis should be placed on tilling the soil if the bermuda has had several applications of round up? Has anyone just applied the round up to the bermuda, then scalped the bermuda, then laid the emerald zoysia?

For that expensive zoysia sod to “take” and provide you with a good lawn, you need good root to soil contact, and you won’t get that without breaking up the soil in your yard. You could till it, verticut it, or maybe, you could run over the yard numerous times with a dethatcher.
Not properly preparing the soil is a great way to get to carry out this exercise again next year.
