Hollow Tine Forking on Houston Lawns?

As a rule, do the good folk of Houston tend to use hollow tine forks on the St Augustine grasses? It strikes me that the ‘soil’?, down here is so poor that a lawn would benefit from this procedure. I am from the UK and am rather bemused by your gumbo clay soil and strange ‘grasses’.
