Looks liek theres lots of variations of problems and remedies. I dont want to pick the wrong one so here are just the facts. Please help!
Sod put in in April.1 side of yard is great/other side of drive way, a smaller strip is browning pretty quickly Brown side has a little more shade but not too much of a difference I water once a day, twice a week I do see 1 mole hole that looks like it has been vacated, no visible tunnels I mow weekly, and keep it about 5″ browning side has a small, fairly bare tree growing in the middle
Am I missing anything, thanks for any help.

How did you water when the sod was put down? How many day/week; how many times/day?

5″ seems awful high for St Augustine. Usually its cut at 3-4 inches depending on variety. How much water? Need to put at least 1/2 inch of water per irrigation event. Is the browning area getting water? Wind can blow your irrigation water away. Too much shade can kill it.
Can you post a picture?
