Help: Lawn Overtaken by Weeds
vd1234 – posted 18 April 2005 22:43
Just started taking care of my new lawn and already have mostly weeds growing
After looking at some weed pictures on the net, I suspect most of my weeds to be crabgrass. Although Ive read on this forum that it is probably too early for crabgrass.
Whatever the species are Ive tried Bayer Advanced Lawn Weed Killer on it and it did not seem to do much good. It possibly deterred growth somewhat, but clearly did not kill most of it.
Here are some pictures of my nightmare: http://duetautoltd.com/badgrass/index.htm
I am looking for any advice on what this might be and how to treat it. At this point I am really getting desperate. Help.

well it looks like roughsralk bluegrass- poa trivialis. your off the shelf hardware store weed control won’t work on it- where are you? and what is your underlying grass type? need more info.

yeah it’s poa trivialis – it’ll burn up when it gets warmer. why don’t you look into a pro company in your area- got to be lots around in your neighborhood!!!- i’m guessing your’re in the midwest somewhere??? you’re right too early to see crabgrass in your market.
