How do I get rid of Bahia grass in my lawn?

Bahia grass and ants??? I’d recommend a couple of 50 gallon drums of gasoline sprayed over your lawn and ignited with a bottle rocked from down the street. This should take care of the grass, the ants, insects, etc.

Funny, I just posted same question, did not read yours first. So, you think bahia is a pest, too. After further reading, I think we can run it our of our lawn by fertilizing and watering often. Does anyone think this will work?

GP; I haven’t noticed it mentioned here (or maybe I missed it) but Ally will kill the Bahia grass without affecting Burmuda. It seems expensive @ 30 bucks an ounce but goes so far(an OZ does THREE acres) that price really isn’t bad.

You best not hold your breath for an answer from him as his post is over a year old: posted 25 June 2002 20:37
I’d get proactive and start net searching for the answer.

Here’s a site with Ally information: http://stephenville.tamu.edu/~butler/foragesoftexas/weedcontrol/labels/Ally.pdf
I’ve heard good things about Ally and am going to try it myself. You can purchase it online or at your local feed/farm store. It is expensive (although you only use 1/10 to 3/4 oz per acre): $20 per oz for the Dupont brand or $15 per oz for the generic, Metsulfuron Methyl. I don’t know if the generic works as well as the Dupont brand???

A field for Bahiagrass reminds me of underwear after a weeks manuvers in Vietnam. Imagine that blowing in the breeze. What else does Pensacola have to give us?
