Fertilizer for new bermuda

I am in Newnan Georgia and my bermuda sod has been down since May 7th. The yard looks OK…better from a distance but when I walk it, the yard appears kind of thin. I am wondering how long I have to wait to fertilize and with what type. Rain has been plentiful so far this summer and I have a sprinkler system if it gets too dry. The sod installer did not fertilize before installation but that is another story. Thanks!!!!

Yep- it needs fertilizer! Any balanced lawn food at your local garden center is ok, but try and get the slowest release nitrogen possible! Quick releasing nitrogen causes the grass to grow too quickly- resulting in more mowing.

I am not sure whats available in your part of the world, but good numbers are somthing like : 25-5-10, with most of the first number,(nitrogen) slow releasing. Ask a sales person for a- “slow releasing lawn food”, and they should know what your talking about. If they have a puzzled look on their face, find someone in the store who doesn’t have a puzzled look! haha
