All, fairly new to caring for a lawn. I have noticed since my lawn is coming out of dormancy, that some most areas are coming back nicely (minus the nice weed growth during the winter), except one section that is brown with little green with some weeds in it. It is circular in nature and about 8 ft+ in diameter (rather large). There is a defined edge to it, which is interesting. Don’t know how to post a picture on here to show. Does this sound like brown patch?

Curious if it is possible to develop a turf grass disease over winter for St Augustine (south Texas variety)? All areas received the same amount of water during the growing season as well as regular fertilizer application. I was considering applying Bonus S, but not sure if it is heavy in nitrogen that would help a disease or not. Prior to the cold winter this year, I could not find any winterizer so had to settle with the standard Scotts TurfBuilder application. Any suggestions on what I should do, whether it be a pre-emerge that I can buy at Home Depot or a spray application?

Thanks

yep. sounds like brown patch(large patch).

It could’ve started last fall, and you’re just now noticing the symptoms.

Go ahead and give it a shot of fertilizer and treat with a fungicide…ideally with something like azoxystrobin, but it’s costly.
