Dead spots around River Stones

The grass that surrounds my river stones are dead. The rest of my lawn is green except for the areas around my stones. Its really strange. I have a green lawn and then there are dead grass that surrounds my trees and edges that the river stones accents . Any thought?

Sounds like phenoxy herbicide damage. Have there been any weeds in the beds treated? If so some of the product may have “leached” thru the root zone into the surrounding turf. Pictures would be helpful.

Thanks for the reply. You are right. I spoke with several lawn professionals and was told that my lawn people probably treated my plant beds for weeds with a product call ROUND UP. Sure enough, they did.
