Bob48, it would be helpful also if you could post some pictures from farther away, “context” shots with some background.
The first one looks like chemical or temperature injury. The flattened appearance looks like the grass just melted in place, and it is more squarish than roundish.

Step back 20 feet and raise the camera so it shows the damaged areas and what is all around it including the horizon.

ok I figured out how to post photos now..Here are the pictures you asked for…I put some black kow in some of the spots to try and get the grass to grow back.. No chemical’s were put into the grass. Lawn service put a pre emergent down in early March. Lawn was fertilized two weeks ago. the spots were there before all this..

Hey Bob, we treat a few zoysia lawns here in north central florida and this is an issue we are seeing pop up in some of our yards. What i’ve come to believe is that this could be caused by a disease simply called ‘zoysia patch’, which is similar to brown patch for st augustinegrass. What baffles me is how after the disease is no longer active, the zoysia does not seem to fill in the spots in a healthy manner, at times taking very long periods of time to even fill in at all, and when it does it does not grow nearly as tall or thick. If I find out more about this I will let you know!
