brown circles in st augustine grass

Every year at this time I get brown circles in my front yard. They vary in size but appear seem to appear in the same areas. The grass in the middle of the circle is green, it is only the outer perimeter of the circles that are brown. It’s a running joke with my neighbors that a UFO lands in my yard each year. Any Suggestions other than calling NASA?

If they are perfect or near perfect circles,it’s very likely Brown Patch & not insects.Water less frequently and more deeply sothat the top layer of soil & stolons driesout. (If rain is doing it…bummer!)You can put down some anti-fungal granulesfrom the hardware store to stop the damage, but it will take time to recover.
The green in the center is the recoveringgrass–it seems to come back quickly ifyou stop keeping it so wet (especially atnight). Always water after 4am to preventnighttime fungal activity. (Only exception–resodding a lawn where evening watering maybe required.)
I almost forgot Do Not over water. Floratan /Seville all strains of St. Augustine are suseptible to fungus from over…
I am from the north and it has taken me five yrs to learn and undertand seville lawns. No 1…
