Black Kow manure

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone has used Black Kow manure as a top dressing for there zoysia? I laid down some Jamur Zoysia back in October and its slowly starting to come together, but there are areas that are struggling. I started putting down some alfalfa and the has helped quite a but, but a neighbor of mine suggested using Black Kow manure. He said it was do wonders. Just wondering if anyone has tried it and the results.
One other thing, I really believe that the person who laid the sod did a terrible job and there are places aroudn the sod where there is basically just large gaps between it. I’m hoping that it will grow in, but so far no luck.

I think it would be a great choice to add organic matter if you have a lot of sand. It will add organic matter, microbes and natural slow release fertilizer. The only thing is a bag spread quite thin will only cover a five by five foot area. That could get quite expensive.
Maybe you should add a slow release fertilizer to get is started. It is granular and can be spread with a hand spreader for even coverage. Lately I discovered the $8 a bag Chicken Manure fertilizer – Black Hen by the same company. I got it at Lowes. It will enrich the soil as well!

I’ve seen that stuff as well. I was hoping someone on here would have tried either of them to see which one works better with zoysia. I have to agree with MrMumbels, afalfa pellets do wonders! about a monthe ago my jamur zoysia was struggling so I dropped some pellets and wow, my grass looks amazing right now. I know mrmumbels was saying that he beleived there is not enough organic material in his soil and I was thinking that maybe the black kow compost maure or chicken manure would help by holding water in the soil longer. I am going to put some down after I get back from vacation next week. I will try to post some pics as well.
One thing, I am starting to notice a specific weed that is growing in parts of my lawn. It almost looks like zoysia runners but the blades are really broad and the stem is dark reddish purple. Also, on the stems are really small white stickers or maybe just fuzz. Has anyone seen something like this? My landscape company justed sprayed yesterday so we’ll see what happens. I’ll try to get pics

We’ve been topdressing Zoysia & St. Augustine for several years using Black Kow Composted Cow Manure with excellent results. Recently we’ve incorporated masonary sand to help hold the compost in place. Because we are Black Kow’s delivery service we have the opportunity to purchase it in bulk.
