Black Burn Type Patches

My yard is plagued by black burn type patches that seem to be propagating. I’m not sure what it is? The turf is about four years old and it has never done well. This year the problem seems to be worse. Anyone have any thoughts on what this is and how I might get this thing turned around. BTW I used chemlawn last year and they didn’t help the problem. Thanks.

I’m not sure of your location but if you are in the north of the US, you have a slime mold situation going on. You need to alter your watering schedules and rates if possible. You may have too much water going on here.

Thanks for the reply. I am in Tallahassee. The yard is actually probably underwatered due to the grade. I’m afraid the water just runs off the slope and out to the front. Do I need to do any kind of fertilizing or other treatment?
