Bermuda Lawn between 2 St. Augustine Lawns

I have a bermuda lawn in between 2 St. Augustine Lawns. How can I keep the St. Augustine lawns from enveloping my Bermuda lawn?

rrr and rekster, this should not be too difficult for you. Once you establish the property line, you can edge and pull any errant St. Augutinegrass stolons that cross the line into your bermuda lawn. You can also install landscape timbers, even 4×4 boards sticking up about 2 inches along their lengths, to give you a solid edge and an easier detection system. While St. Augustinegrass stolons will grow over the top of the boards, you will easily see them when they do, and many of the stolons, when they run into the boards, will bend 90 degrees and follow the length of the boards.

Your neighbors will not have such an easy time, because your bermudagrass is probably rhizomatous, that is, there will be undergrounds runners called rhizomes, and the bermuda will creep closer to the ground than the St. Augustine. If you want to be a really good neighbor, you can dig a temporary trench into which you will install a vertical band of aluminum roof flashing, preferrably 18 inches. The top of the roof flashing would be tacked to the 4 x 4 boards, to narrow the opportunities for grass egress and ingress.
