How can I eliminate bermuda grass in my St. Augustine lawn?

Try a 4% solution of post-plus…..test an area first………that’s what i use on centipede………….works great

Does that 4% solution work on zoysia grass also?

What is post-plus 4%? I live on a golf course and have Bermuda in my St. Augustine also and would like to try the aforementioned!

atrazine at the right time can do it over time

bemuda in st augustine, especially floratam is a pain..Ive dealt with it many times..If you live by a golfcourse i.e the fairway merges into your backlawn..learn to live with it….Ive seen lawns that have backyards that merge into golf course fairways and have been there for 30+ years. It only gets in patches so it localizes,,if the st augustine is full and thick it it stays in spots..If you have lots of bald patches or a die off it can get a good start and spread rapidly…SO keep your st aug thick and healthy and it will not take over.but you will have to live with spots and oatches of it….

If you want to know a good way to get rid of it let me know,I have had some success getting rid of it with atrazine and a good lawn mowing.

I live in southeast Texas, and the best way to get rid of bermuda in a St. Augustine lawn is to mow high, about 4 inches. Bermuda seems to just die out when shaded by a healthy, tall St Augustine lawn.

I have successfully eliminated bermuda from my lawn in the past. Mow high and bermuda can’t win. Neither can any other weeds, for that matter.

I would not put out poast or poast plus unless you want to renovate. Poast is a grass killer only and Centipede just happens to be tolerant to this particular herbicide. St Augustine and Bermuda and most other grass are not. Poast is labeled for centipede only and no other turfgrass.

How do you use the Atrazine? I’ve tried Bonus-S and Weed-B-Gon with atrazine, but it didn’t even slow the bermuda down. It’s actually spreading, even though I mow at the highest setting. I’m just about to spray the area with Roundup and re-sod it, if there are no other options.
