Atlanta, GA – Zeon Zoysia vs TifGrand Bermuda

I’m in the process of picking a new grass for my lawn, in Atlanta. I’ve got fescue which dies every and summer and have a large tree shades different parts of my lawn at different times durign the day. I was originally set on putting down TifGrand but after talking to a couple of the sod growers in the Atlanta area, I’m starting to lean towards Zeon Zoysia. However, I’m still on the fence on which grass to go with.
Did anyone here in the Atlanta metro area have to make a decision on Zeon vs TifGrand? Which one did you go with and what was the deciding factor?

You’ve probably already installed your grass by now… I’m in Paulding Co. and was going through the same debate. I installed Zeon Zoysia in May 2011 for 3 reasons. First, the price was nearly the same and Zoysia is supposed to be a superior type of grass to Bermuda. Second, I did not feel that TifGrand was proven enough. To me, it was too risky given the amount of shade and price. Third, I wanted something that was a little bit lower maintenance than my nearly 8k square foot front yard Bermuda. Hope you’re enjoying whatever you decided on.
