Annual Rye

Building a new home. Completion will be too late in 2005 to plant a permanent buffalo grass lawn. I want to plant annual rye as a temporary (over-winter) lawn. I live in north central Texas about 15 miles south of Sherman, Texas. The lawn space is just under 1 acre. What is a good variety of annual rye for my purpose? What is seeding rate lbs/acre and a good source of seed?
thanks

My view:
Variety or cultivar isn’t important. Buy based on price. You’ll need a couple hundred pounds of the stuff for and acre. Shop Lowe’s, Home Depot, Wal-Mart for the best price.
