White stuff at the tips of the blades

I live in central CT and I just put down a pre emergent and noticed white stuff at the tips of the grass blades. I had a problem last year too… but I dont remember white tips. Someone told me it was red thread and I put down something for it… but it really didnt help much. It went away in the fall and everything was looking good… until now.
