Florida Zoysia Rebate?

I am having an Empire Lawn put in next week in Central Florida. My installer says that some of his other customers have applied for a rebate from Florida (or a subdivision thereof) for a rebate because Empire Zoysia requires less water. I haven’t been able to get more information from my installer, so I searched extensively online and have not found any reference to a water conservation rebate program related to changing to Empire Zoysia in Florida.

Have any of you Turfgrass Forum members in Florida heard of such a rebate?

Sounds ridiculous to me. Zoysia requires just as much water to look good just not as much to survive. When ST Aug dies in drought yours will be all dried up but still come back at the next watering.

PS: bring in some top soil or mix something organic in with this crappy FL sand we have. You’ll need something to hold water for a few days after a watering.
