Empire Zoysia

I am looking to plug my yard this spring. Slowly converting it from St. Augustine to empire zoysia. I put a few plugs in December, they are doing well. I was wondering if anyone has used this type of zoysia and if so how did it work? Thanks for your time.

I am also converting my yard to zoysia (empress). My zoysia is doing well but so is my Floratam!!!! I am now using 2-4 D to spray for weeds in the back and am also spraying my floratam with it beside the zoysia. This seems to weaken the Floratam (a variety of St Augustine) and doesn’t bother my zoysia. Also by cutting it closer you should make the yard more ammenable for zoysia. Good luck. I’ll update you in a month or two on my progress.

Thanks for the reply. My plugs are doing well so far; I have put out about 30 trays. It will definitely be a slow take over, but I’m patient. Please keep me informed on how your grass is doing. I live in east central Florida also, just outside of Orlando. Good Luck!!!
