What grows well in Dry heat, and is Hardy in cold

I am wondering what kind of grass would be good to plant in our back yard. It is in direct sun most of the day and gets very little watering, has kid traffic and currently is mostly just weeds. Also, I live in MN making a need for a cold hardy grass. Any suggestions? Thanks

A mix of kentucky blue and creeping red fescue is a good solid choice. Your local garden center probably carries such a mix, as its a common turf for your area.
