I have never started a new lawn before. I used a seed mixture of multiple types of tall fescue with 20% blue grass. How will it due here . Any advanced warnings?

Tall fescue does well in most of So. Cal except for high mountain areas and low deserts. Every where else is prime Tall fescue territory……and you will see it planted in 90% of new turf areas! (even when its not the best turf for the given situation). Its become so popular- that its automatically specified whether its the best grass for the situation or not!

my lawn is currently tall fescue, though because of my lack of attention to it, it is in rather poor shape. i would say it needs more attention than if you went w/ zoysia or bermunda, especially since tall fescue is a bunch type grass (therefore does not spread unless you seed/sod). it grows rather fast (in my opinion) and therefore needs to be mowed maybe twice a week, for me at least.
but if you don’t mind those, i would at least recommend an automatic sprinkler system, unless you have the patience to hand water.
