Need help: Weed control for ornamental perennial peanut (rhizomes type)?
I need know which weed control product(s) to use on my ornamental perennial peanut, subterranean stems – rhizomes type, in a large area of the backyard (on a one-acre lot).
Weeds are a mix (Bermuda grass, Bahia grass, sedge, dog fennel, spurge, match weed, pennywort, goose grass, crabgrass, I think Frog Fruit too, etc.). There is irrigation when needed. Two years ago, I cleared the area of weeds, planted, mulched and hand weeded for about 6 months. Weeds still invade from underground and above ground. Now the peanut is well established, however I cannot keep up with hand weeding this large area. The surrounding area of our property is undeveloped fields that was horse pasture. Weeds go to seed, in this undeveloped area, blowing seeds in our yard, etc. I want to put in more peanut. However, I need to know first how to control the weeds. What products can I use to at least try to control the weeds and unwanted grasses?
Thank you, Sandy
