Help! I live in So. Calif, had St. Aug sod installed in July. Waterd 3x/day initially, then only 2x/wk. Started to turn brown and lost 1/4 of lawn. Installer said it will regenerate and to water 7 min/day, not getting enought water/too dry. How long will it take to regenerate? Other half of the lawn is looking thin in spots. THanks for any help!

Water 7 minutes per day? Wow, are you using a fire hydrant? I am guessing 20-40 minutes per watering event is more appropriate.
To find out how long to water the yard do this:1. Put out 4-6 pans medium size pans.2. Turn on sprinkler and time how long it takes to get 1/2 – 3/4 an inch in the average pan.3. That is how long you should water. The average yard does fine with 3/4 inch water twice per week.
Watering 7 minutes/day for 99% of the people will result in shallow roots and maybe even fungus. Don’t do it!!!
