identifying grass type

I am starting to take of my lawn for the first time. I have absolutely no idea what kind of grass I have. Is there an easy way to identify the grass type.
I live in Canada, near the border. We do have pretty cold winters and warm to hot summers.
Any help would be appreciated. I can take a picture if that can help.

go to turfgrass identification and check all the boxes that apply. it should give you a pretty good idea of what type of turf you have.
