How to get St Augustine healther?

Hi everyone.
I’m in South Florida and had a few questions on my St Augustine lawn. In the past, I had a dollar weed problem that I resolved over the winter using Lesco’s weed and feed (forgot the numbers). It worked well, got rid of my dollarweeds and made the lawn healthy. The problem is now I have two dogs and don’t want to put down fertilizer that is posinous to them. I am also finding a certain weed growing in weak areas of the lawn. It has a thinner, darker green blade that grows a bit faster the then St Augustine.
I want to get an organic fertilizer that is safe for the dogs, but will make my lawn healthy enough to sniff out the weeds. What is a good organic fertilizer to use? I’ve been good at cutting the lawn at my mowers highest setting and watering longer and less frequently (mainly the winter, plenty of water in the summer).
Any recommendations for fertilizer or anything else I can do?
Thanks,
Doug D
