Help me Kill my Rye Grass please!

I have rye grass taking over my yard. My yard was primarily st. Augustine until I spread rye grass seed 2 winters ago. I thought that the rye would die in the summer heat but that hasn’t happened yet. This year it came back with vengence. I would like to kill the rye without damaging the st. Augustine. I read something about round up? Would it be easier to pay tru green to spray my yard with something? Thanks for any help in advance.Justin

atrazine or metsulfuronor just call a professional to come do it for you.

No roundup! It will kill your entire lawn. Just add a weed and feed that has atrazine in it. Or spray your lawn with atrazine.
$9 of atrazine (HomeDepot) will treat 3,500 SF. You can get a bottle with a hose end connection and spray your lawn – or you can pay TruGreen or somebody $50 or $60 for a one time spray.

Round up will definitely take out the St. Augustine too. Be careful with the hose end sprayers, I killed my yard with one. At first I thought I may have had Floratam (and used a not for Floratam spray) but upon further investigation believe the problem was spraying too much. After my experience I’d just pay someone to do it. But, everyone likes to learn things for themselves! lol.
I almost forgot Do Not over water. Floratan /Seville all strains of St. Augustine are suseptible to fungus from over…
I am from the north and it has taken me five yrs to learn and undertand seville lawns. No 1…
