Centipede seed questions

I just planted some centipede seed. The package did not say to cover with any hay or to rake in. I killed all the grass and weeds then tilled. Layed seed then used a roller. Should i overlay a light layer of topsoil????

One other problem i am having is the ants are eating my centipede seed at an alarming rate. Any solutions to this problem. Wondering if i overlay a little top soil if this will discourage them.
