perinal rye seed time

I live in hampton roads area (Williamsburg) of virginia. Would now be a good time to get perinal rye seed down, or should i wait untill it cools off more. I would like to see growth for a green lawn this winter as i have bermuda and it is pretty much gone after the first hard frost.Thanks for any help.

I would, and am, waiting a few weeks to get out of the prime Gray Leaf Spot season. This is a devastating disease on any Ryegrass. It is especially devastating to new ryegrass plants. Wait till the beginning or middle of October to overseed and you will not have to worry about this disease.
