Fescue and Bermuda

I live in Columbia, SC. I had bermuda sod laid at my house in March. It was green until August. After the hot weather, the front yard (no shade) has appeard to be doing fine – it is still full and green. The back and sides, which are more shaded, have turned brown. And worse, the ground stays constantly wet and it appears as if some sort of other grass has died leaving a really “light” greening of bermudagrass. The tech. from Chemlawn told me that I had fescue mixed in with my sodded bermudagrass and that the fescue is what has died in the heat (it took until August to do so) and now the bermuda will need time to come back. But, for now, it is brown and sparse. What can I do/expect?

If you over-seed with Rye this fall- it will help green up your shady areas, and if you use a heat tolerant perennial rye, it will live thru the heat of the summer in the shade.
