I live in the Florida Panhandle & seeded my yard with Brown Top Millet as a summer ground cover before planting a permanent turf because:

1) I tilled in sand fill to raise the elevation (good topsoil was unavailable) & want to create some bio-mass 2) I’ll be working extensively on the outside of the house & don’t want to wear the permanent turf

After planting, I read on a website that Brown Top Millet will die-out after 65 days. Is this so if I keep it mowed? I had hoped it would get me to the winter rye season.
