Anyone got it? I just put in 500sqft in my back yard along side my empire zoysia. Curious to see the difference between the 2.

Gee, anyone ever heard about it?

Just put in Ultimate Flora Zoysia 3 weeks ago. Used sod. I have watered it in the morning and the evening to get it started in a very shaded back yard. I treated it for white grub worms the day I put it down and have treated it again 10 days after the first treatment. It is deep green and I will probably cut it for the first time on 03-31-08, because it is getting high. I will cut back on the water to once a week beginning today, 03-26-08.

jctflnc, where are you located? When you say you treated it for grub worms, is this because you found some or just taking precautions?Mine is looking awesome right now, just mowed it last week.

Just checking to see if you guys are still active in here… trying to make my decision between Jamur, Ultimate, and Toro… mainly wondering, after your last 3 years, what the outcome is since you put it next to empire.

Texture (obvious, not subtle difference), hardiness, resistance, and shade tolerance. My understanding is Ultimate was developed for Florida year-round use without the winter rest?

Any education is appreciated… thought a day of research yesterday would be enough… supposed to order today to plant next week!

My ufz goes brown in the winter. I can’t tell you too much about it because I planted it in the shade. My empire did take much of it over though. The ufz has a much finer blade than the empire.

FYI. I chose Jamur (installed in early May) and it is working out great. Holding up very well in the dry, hot conditions in Atlanta this summer, growing well in the little bit of constant shade that I have. Coverage is spectacular and weeds are almost non existent at this point.

Very happy with my choice.

I am interested in what happens to this turf in the winter and next spring.

I have Jamur as well, installed it last October. Like most Zoysia varieties its turns to horse hay in the winter, usually before other grasses and ususally greens up later than most grasses in the spring. But it pretty much guaranteed not to die and it always comes back much nicer then other grasses. I would say, if you have a small enough yard, try cutting with a reel mower.
