I am going to be returning to school to study turf and i was just wondering if anybody could give me some insight on wether or not going to a small public school(SUNY Delhi), as i am a resident of New York and that will save me alot of money, or going to a larger public university such as penn state or ohio state, which am i better off doing? A larger University has much more resources. With the turf industry, so much more is learned from hands on experience than through book work. Why not go to Rutgers in New Brunswick (Cook College). It really is the best of both worlds. They are one of, if not, the top turf school in the world. Large enough to have great facilities and small enough so you won't get lost in the crowd. Still, the campus is small and turf students are a tight knit group. I know all the professors really well and not one (ok maybe one) is a snob. They are all nice, down to earth people that support the industry with everything they do. You would be hard pressed to find better, in my opinion. (My apologies to Seed.......... If you want to get out of your cold climate you might think about Sandhills Community College in Pinehurst, North Carolina. I am taking my last exam Monday at 4:00 P.M. and will start my internship in Janurary. They have an excellent Golf Turf Management Program. I have enjoyed myself these last two years. I am doing my internship in Titusville, Florida and plan on coming back to the Pinehurst area. Just a thought. IP: Logged |
