I moved to a new house in December. The builder’s landscaper laid centipede sod (brown & dormant), but it did not set new roots and now (April) the lawn has excessive weeds and the sod is mostly unrooted. Most of it is still brown. Only some green leaves are present. I live in SC, and we have had plenty of days above 80°. What can I do to recover? Has anyone heard of placing centipede sod in the winter? The landscaping co. said it was OK, but later a horticulture specialist told me that centipede would not put down roots when the soil was cold. Does anyone have any experience with this scenario?
