Can someone help me identify what this is in my grass and how to prevent it? http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv184/CReelSr/October122009052.jpg http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv184/CReelSr/October122009057.jpg http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv184/CReelSr/October122009058.jpg http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv184/CReelSr/October122009059.jpg This fungus/mushroom appeared following a long drought and we finally got some rain. How much rain did you did you get? And are you in a humid climate? Guessing by your St. Augustine grass I am assuming you are. Mushrooms can pop up quickly when there is a significant rain fall. Even over night. There is no real problem with them because once you mow they will simply be gone. If you start to notice rings of mushrooms in say 2-3 foot circles I would think there could be something else there. But for now those look harmless. Once you mow you should be good. Hope that helps. We are in Pearland, TX. We recently got 2 inches over a two or three day period. Humidity is ususally high. They typically appear following rain.I imagined it may be some sort of soil deficiency. Thanks for you kindness. IP: Logged |

Most likely it's just decaying wood/stumps buried in the lawn. NOTHING is missing from the soil and no treatment is needed. IP: Logged |
