Folks,
Need some insight on my sodding plan. I’m planning on putting bermuda sod around my new house apron out to the perimeters of the yard where my shade starts. I planned to finish the fringes with st. augustine sod out to the property line and in shaded areas. I don’t have a problem with the bermuda growing into the st. augustine or vice versa. Are there any precautions I should be aware of? Thanksperryrip

Bermuda will not take over in the shade but it may in the sun. The two together react wierd. I have seen bermuda take over St. Aug and I have seen St. Aug take over bermuda. The soil, pH, nurients, etc may favor one slightly over the other which will result in survival over the fittest. Why not just go all St. Augustine if you are dealing with the shade issue.

Bermuda kid,
The primary reason is that bermuda is significantly cheaper than St. Augustine in the area I’ll be sodding. Plus I like the look of a well kept bermuda sodded yard over St. Augustine.
