I also see that it has a fine texture blade which might allow you to use a push reel mower.

There are a couple of options though if you want to go gas reel mower.

You could contact a local golf course and see if they have any old mowers they are trying to get rid of, or there are stores/companies that refurbish mowers used on golf courses and resell them.

I think that would be your best bet if money is a consideration.

Reel mowers how ever are much more maintenance than a rotary mower. But you will get a much better cut if the reel mower is in good condition (level bed knife, and sharp blades).

I would do a little research on Google on how to properly maintain a reel mower, and if you think you can handle that then I would go for it for sure.

Also, if your yard is small a reel mower wont need as many check ups, or as much sharpening.

Couple of things I would consider.

If you can get your hands on a sharp push reel mower try that out first.

If you don't like that then try to see if you can rent/borrow a gas reel mower, and try that.

They are not cheap, and no sense in getting something if it doesnt work for you.

This guys seems to fit your needs, and has a lot of mowers to choose from with some solid advice on why he likes them. However he does tend to like the Scotts Classic a lot.

Read it over. But remember in the green industry (Turf, Landscape) it can be tricky getting the real truth. Once you find a mower you like try hitting up other reviews to make sure it isn't just a pipe dream.
