I’m not sure how helpful this will be since I have an established emerald lawn in Birmingham, AL. I cut with a rotary mower probably a bit higher than recommended – around 2-2.5″ I think – don’t want to go lower because it would take more than 1 cut per week. No problems, just make sure you change directions each time. On the fertilizer, less is more. I put down less than recommended every 6 weeks using Lesco turf fertilizer 26-12-?. Water infrequently once you get it established – too much water = thatch/fungus. It is actually pretty easy to have a very nice zoysia lawn.

We had emerald installed in Feb and it is looking great. we give it 20 minutes of water per week (I inch) and mow it to 2.5 inches every 10 days. We are organic so used a good organic fertilizer in March, plus molasses foliar feed April and will again this month and in September.
