WE PLANTED ZENITH ZOYIA 6 WEEKS AGO. WE WATERED IT AS DIRECTED. WE ONLY HAD A HANDFUL OF BLADES TO COME UP. WHAT HAPPENED? IT IS TOO EXPENSIVE FOR THIS TO HAPPEN. WILL IT COME UP NEXT SPRING. I AM AT A LOSS.

The germination success rate is VERY low on Zenith Zoysia. I don’t believe it will germinate next Spring. You should try Companion Zoysia, it germinates MUCH quicker and looks a lot better than Zenith.

Cary,
Companion really looks that much better than Zenith? You’ve grown both side by side? Can you give more details? I fooled around with Zenith in small enclosed area and they germinated fairly well.

How is your Zoysia lawn coming along?

It’s been 5-6 weeks and they look great. Very nice green color, much better than bermuda grass I have in the front yard which I plan on getting rid of anyway. I probably will sod with Empire zoysia that I’m getting from local sod farm not far from where I live. It’s much cheaper than other varieties so that’s why I decided to go with empire. I would have gone with Palisade if it was cheaper. It’s like 50 dollars more a pallet than Empire.
