I have a Bermuda lawn in North Atlanta. I sanded this spring. I cut every other day. Really. I use Lesco and Ironite every month. I have no fungus. Of course there is the occasional scalping in certain small spots from my Tru-cut mower. I cut at 3/4 to 1″. Plenty of rain. So why is my grass not green? Some spots are great and others appear as if I have wacked off the only green growth. I am only cutting 1/4″ at a time. Should I cut it lower, less often, scalp and sand again? Also how does one go about finding out which variety of Bermuda is in the lawn?Your help is greatly appreciated.

It is possible you have common bermuda instead of hybrid…I have a yard in Acworth with the same problem. Many possibilities though…check for grubs, shade, compaction, trashed reel, ect.

Thank you. I have a sharp reel. I think I had a fungus of some type. With common Bermuda, will I ever get a “turf” look? I really do not like my lawn. I don’t mind cutting every two days if need be.
