My Tifway 419 burmuda was laid about 7 weeks ago and two areas went brown within the first week and have yet to recover. Any chance it still will? The areas are in full sun and are watered frequently. Also, the lawn is very uneven, any way to level it out now that the lawn is in?

Stop watering frequently. You likely have a fungus growing there. You can get rid of fungus with ordinary corn meal applied at 20 pounds per 1,000 square feet. If you have already applied a fungicide, the corn meal will not work. It relies on a different fungus to work. Corn meal takes 3 weeks to work but it does work. I get it in 50 pound bags at the feed store for $6.50.

You should be watering nor more than one time per week. This time of year, even less frequently. When you water, water for an hour to make sure it goes deep.

One clever way to level a lawn is to aerate it and rake all the plugs to the low areas. Or you could sprinkle sand in the low spots every time you mow until it is as level as you want it.
