I live in Central Florida (Brevard) and have a Seville lawn. I know that Seville is a cultivar of St Augustine.
As I look for fertilizer / herbicides, the labels will indicate "Safe for St Augustine lawns".

Is this the same a saying "Safe for "cultivars" of St Augustine"? Or does the vendor really mean "Do NOT use this on anthing but St. Augustine...which means don't use this on Seville"??

As far as straight fertilizer is concerned...it's just fertilizer. Fertilize accordingly.

Some chemical labels will actually read, "not for use on improved cultivars of St. Augustine". If it's pre-emergent activity you're looking for...atrazine, pendimethalin, prodiamine, dithiopyr should all be safe to use.

Post-emergence is a different story...fairly limited to what you can use. Atrazine and metsulfuron are safe on St. Augustine, and control a wide range of weeds. I've never dealt with "Seville" though, but I spray a lot of "Mercedes" and "Palmetto".
