Last year I made my own tea and mixed it in a 50 gallon barrel of dechlorinated water after brewing. I pumped it out using a submersible pump attached to my hose. This year I purchased a siphon to put in the 5 gallon bucket of tea but now I have concerns over the chlorinated water coming out of the house.Will it ruin the tea? IP: Logged |

Well, I know clorinated water isn't recommended for lawns, but in a lot of cases, it's all we've got. My city's water treatment plant just went to RO filtering, but, I had little choice but to use tapwater for years. The yard here would require a whole bunch of rain barrels. So, I do use my compost tea with tapwater. Still seems to help the lawn, so all I can assume is that the bacteria in the compost is more than enough to overcome the small amount of clorine in household water lines. The chlorine will not hurt the tea. And most of the chlorine dissapates into the air when you spray irrigate your lawn. Remember, the chlorine levels in drinking water are safe for us to drink. It will kill your fish but not your grass. IP: Logged |
